Military Discounts for Veterans Day and Military Family Appreciation Month

Whether it’s in honor of Veterans Day or Military Family Appreciation Month, many businesses want to express their gratitude to the military community in November.  From complimentary meals to free zoo admission, here are just a few of the many military discounts available to service members this month.  To receive any of the discounts, a Military ID or other proof of service is required.

Applebee’s
Free meal on November 11, 2014
On Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, veterans and active duty service members can enjoy a free meal from a choice of seven entrées.
Bob Evans
All-you-can-eat hotcakes on November 11, 2014
The restaurant founder Bob Evans was a World War II veteran. As a way to give back, all Bob Evans restaurants will be serving free all-you-can-eat hotcakes to veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day.

Free entrée on Veterans Day
All active duty military and veterans are invited to have a free entrée from a special Veterans Day menu that includes a choice of pizza, full size salad or pasta.

Friendly’s honors veterans and active military with a free breakfast, lunch or dinner on Veterans Day.  Guests can receive the Big-Two-Do® with coffee for breakfast or an All American Burger with fries and beverage for lunch or dinner.

Free Meal – November 11
Red Robin says thank you to all veterans and active duty service members by giving them a free Tavern DoubleTM burger with Bottomless Steak Fries® on November 11.
Golden Corral
Free Military Appreciation Monday “thank you” dinner on November 17
Anyone who has served in the U.S. military, including retirees, veterans, active duty, National Guard or Reserves, can receive a free “thank you” dinner at Golden Corral restaurants nationwide on Monday, Nov. 17 from 5pm – 9pm. This is Golden Corral’s 14th annual Military Appreciation Monday dinner.  Last year they served over 433,500 veterans and active duty military with a free dinner buffet and beverage.

Sizzler honors vets and active duty members of the U.S. military with a free lunch on November 11. Until 4pm, guests with a military ID can choose a free entrée of either a six-ounce Tri Tip Steak, a single Malibu Chicken or a half dozen Fried Shrimp. Coffee, iced tea or a fountain drink is included.

Thank a Veteran Free Haircut Card Promotion on November 11
Customers who stop by any Great Clips salon in the United States gets a free haircut card to give to a veteran. The free haircut cards are redeemable by all active, inactive, retired and reserve members of the military from November 11 to December 31, 2014.

Hometown Heroes Celebration – November 8 – 11
The outfitter of hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear is having a Hometown Heroes Celebration from Nov. 8 through Nov. 11. As part of the celebration, they are offering a 10% discount on everything in the store (excluding firearms), and a 5% discount off firearms, to all veterans and active duty military and reserve, law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel.

Boston Harbor Islands Cruise, Boston, MA
Free cruise on Saturday, November 15
Veterans can set sail on a free 5-hour cruise around Boston Harbor, stopping at Georges Island for a tour of Fort Warren. Guests will learn about the military history of Boston Harbor from the American Revolution up to the present time. Boat departs from Long Wharf on Boston’s Downtown Waterfront at 11am on Nov. 15.
Mid-Atlantic

Free Round of Golf on November 11
Veterans and active duty military are invited to play a free round of golf at Eisenhower Park, Cantiague Park, Christopher Morley Park, Bay Park and North Woodmere Park on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Golfers must be Nassau County residents and show military identification or discharge papers. Walk-up games only. Golf cart fees will be discounted for service members who have a Nassau County leisure pass.

50% off tickets for up to six people
Through November 11, 2014 veterans can purchase single-day admission tickets for themselves and up to five guests at 50% off. Tickets must be used by December 21, 2014.

Free Family Breakfast on November 11
Whole Foods Market in Virginia Beach is celebrating the WHOLE military family this Veterans Day. Veterans and active duty personnel and their families are invited to visit the Whole Foods Market on Laskin Rd. for a free breakfast on Tuesday, November 11, from 8 – 10am.

Midwest

Harley-Davidson Museum – Milwaukee, WI
Free admission for military and their families
All active duty military, veterans and their families will be admitted to the museum for free on Nov.  8-9, & 11. The Disabled American Veterans mobile service will also be at the museum on Sat., Nov. 8 from 10am to 6pm providing free, professional assistance to veterans and their families, helping them learn about obtaining benefits and services earned through military service.

South

Florida Aquarium – Tampa, FL
Free admission for military and guest on November 11
Active duty, retired, veteran, drilling reservist or National Guardsman can receive two free tickets for themselves and a guest on Veterans Day. Up to four additional family members can receive 50% admission.
Birmingham Zoo – Birmingham, AL
Free admission for military and their dependents November 10 -11
Active and retired service members and their dependents can enjoy free admission on November 10 and 11.

West

Six Flags Discover Kingdom – Vallejo, CA
Free park admission ticket, November 8 – November 11
Active duty and veteran military personnel can receive a free admission ticket during a four-day Military Appreciation Celebration from Saturday, Nov. 8 through Tuesday, Nov.  11.  Service members can also bring up to three guests at a discounted price.
Oregon Zoo – Portland, OR
Free admission for military personnel and family members on November 11
Military veterans and active duty military and the family members who accompany them to the zoo can receive free admission on Nov. 11, from 9am-4pm. Families of deployed military members will also be given free admission.  In addition, veterans and service members can receive a 10% discount at the Zoo Store and all food and beverage locations at the zoo.
Many other places around the country show their appreciation to America’s heroes by offering military discounts on Veterans Day and throughout the month of November.  Be sure to keep an eye out for special discounts in your local area.
